Extra Curricular

Our school offers a vibrant array of extracurricular activities designed to ignite students' passions and cultivate their talents. From drama clubs and sports teams to robotics and art workshops, there's something for everyone. These activities not only enhance students' skills but also foster teamwork, creativity, and leadership. To explore the full schedule, please refer to the timetable at the bottom of the page.

Trips

The Romsey School's trips are a testament to the school's commitment to providing students with a diverse and enriching array of experiences. Whether it's the thrill of a live performance at the Mayflower Theatre or the MAST Theatre, the natural beauty and geological wonders of Lulworth Cove, or the historical significance of Romsey Abbey and Bletchley Park, each trip offers something unique.

Meanwhile, international excursions like Paris, Nepal, Iceland, Kenya and Norway open student's eyes to different cultures and breathtaking landscapes. This variety ensures that students not only gain academic knowledge but also develop a broader perspective on the world, making each trip an amazing adventure.

Here are two examples of trips that The Romsey School are proud of:

Iceland Trip

40 Year 10 students were given the opportunity to visit Iceland, where the pupils had a very active and busy itinerary. After landing, the pupils were given time to explore the city of Reykjavik. They then travelled to a nearby attraction called ‘Fly over Iceland’. This was a 4D experience where pupils were in a simulator which shows drone footage of flying over the beautiful landscapes across Iceland. From there they went to the famous Blue Lagoon and spent the evening in the spa and treating themselves after a long day's travelling. Their final activity before returning to the hotel was watching the Northern Lights in a quiet and secluded area just outside of Reykjavik.

Please read the Daily Echo article here to learn what other activities the students took part in and why the students who attended felt it was a "trip of a life-time".

Kenya

For six years now, students have had the unique opportunity to visit Kenya and volunteer with local community projects in Nakuru, a developing area of Kenya, East Africa. Previously the students have spent 12 days volunteering in a number of schools on the outskirts of the Rift Valley province and experienced a safari weekend on the Masai Maara.

The trip has included a visit to the Menengai Crater and visits to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi and the Giraffe Sanctuary, also in Nairobi.

Students and staff alike have expressed how this trip has "changed their lives" and is one they would recommend to everyone!

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Our school is particularly strong with regard to our students’ participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze Level. Each year around 50 students take part in the award, and they revel in the adventures that entail.
