Home Learning

Aims, Rationale and Purpose:

  • To support all students in reaching their potential and bridging attainment gaps
  • Reinforcement of Learning: It enables students to recall, practice, and reinforce the concept taught in class. This fosters an environment where our students can be intellectually challenged, allowing them to learn more, know more, and practice more, inspiring them to improve. Research
  • Homework should have a clear purpose of either reinforcing or introducing new content prior to deeper learning.
  • Fostering Independent Learning: It encourages self-discipline, confidence, time management, and independent study skills, which are crucial for our students’ readiness for higher education or future careers.
  • Enhancing Memory and Exam Preparation: Homework provides students the chance to review, recall, and revise material, which aids in their preparation for assessments and exams.
  • Consistent homework enhances knowledge retention, facilitates more accessible schema, and improves test-taking strategies.
  • Creating Confident Learners: By boosting students' confidence and motivation in each subject, we cultivate a school culture where embracing challenges, valuing learning, and maintaining high aspirations are the standards. Building on school priority of ‘students embrace challenge’.
